Day 7: My Fair City

This was a fun day. Best school visit ever. Some of you got the pictures sent of the class I spoke with. This was at Fresno high school and what happened was I didn't get any sign ups so the high school counselor asked the international baccalaureate class if I could talk with them. None of them had heard of Corban before and once I starting talking they loved it! I had never seen this much engagement with the students before and it was great. They thought I was funny too so that made me feel good. Out of the 30 students I talked with, 20 of them really wanted to know more and they gave me their cards. This was the best way to spend my first day in Fresno.

After the amazing school visit I headed over to Fresno Christian. The funny thing about this visit was I didn't set it up. It was just in my calendar. It was a mini fair which is what I kind of expected. I had showed a hour early but it was fine. I got to pick the best table. This was my first fair! It was great I was sharing a table with Messiah University and mostly talked with a guy named Paul. I love Paul he is awesome. I told him I was new and he gave me little inside tips and helped me out a lot. We were both going to the fair later tonight so when I saw him again it was good to have a familiar face.

The Fresno fair was AWESOME! At first I felt awkward but then Sarah from Trinity Western set up next to me and she was so nice. Most of the people I talked to knew Ashley and so it was easy to start the conversation. Actually there was this girl who at first I thought she didn't like me so I went up to her and I said "hello my name is Courtney, I believe you met my coworker Ashley and she said you were great and that I needed to meet you!" after that I had a new friend! Yay! Did I lie...maybe... But you become desperate for someone to talk to so you aren't awkward.

After the fair Sarah and Paul both said I did a wonderful job and I didn't look like I was new at all. They said I looked very natural. Aww thanks Paul and Sarah! I needed some words of affirmation during this travel season .

Once the fair was done I drove back to the hotel, organized one of my suitcases and fell asleep. It was a good thing I had read Ashley's post before I went to bed because I almost forgot to text my mom and I wouldn't want the front desk to call me. Ashley your story made me laugh but I bet it scared the pee out of you.

Well, it is now morning and I am in Starbucks hoping my credit card will work tomorrow. I love my little town of Fowler. There is only a hotel, a Starbucks, gas station, Quiznos and Carl's jr. It's perfect. I like being just out of the big city.

Well I hope everyone is enjoying there travel season or time in the office. Have a great day everyone! It crazy to think I am not even half way down with travel... Oh... Now I am depressed.

  1. MY Bible says not to favor anyone...

Glad to hear you are making some friends. That is definitely a piece of travel I miss. Not that I was always the greatest at it, but when I did venture out it was quite fun. Miss some of my buddies.

Praying for you. It's a long haul, but when you're done with this trip the rest of your territory will be significantly easier. Oh wait, you scheduled another big like two-week trip didn't you? Well, it will still be fun to see somewhere new and by blitzing it early you have an early completion time to look forward to.

Homework assignments to do tonight: 1-3
Percentage points of my level of caring: 0-12
    Number of meetings tomorrow: 3
Number I am excited for: 1.75
